To Angoulême, Valdevez and Lisbon
Adrien Sébastien Perruchet Silva was born in Angoulême, on the 15th of march of 1989, son of a portuguese father and a french mother. Nowadays he plays for Sporting Clube de Portugal and lives in Lisbon with his family: his wife Margarida Neuparth and his children Santiago, who was born on the 26th of may of 2014 and Thomas, born on the 28th of december of 2015.Adrien started playing football at Girondins de Bordeaux when he was six years old, until his parents decided to move to Arcos de Valdevez, in Portugal. It was in this small town in the North of the country that he started impressing, at the local club called Paçô.
Only six months after he arrived he started being noticed and in 2002 he joined the prestigious Sporting Clube de Portugal youth academy. He was 13 years old.
His persevering nature and his ambition allowed him to overcome language barriers and the absence of his family in Lisbon.
Sporting Acaddemy
He conquered the championship and the first youth team has the captain in all development teams. His youth training was made entirely at this prestigious academy.
Many clubs showed interest on signing him, Chelsea was among them and ended up contacting Adrien in 2005. Among the requests, he decided to sign his first professional contract with the clube where he developed and joined Sporting first team in 2007.
He grew up in Sporting. His way of playing shows elegance and fighting spirit, strength and technical know how, as well as his position in the midfield, hybrid. To these characteristics he ads a good attitude and some signature signs: a temperament of a warrior, a good kick and an excellent ability to read the game.
Despite efforts no always are rewarded, Adrien Silva still claims his ambition: "At Sporting we're always aiming to win. This is the mentality that the team has for the past three years. Many young players form our team. We are still developing, of course, but we have a lot of ambition".
Sporting Clube Portugal and Leicester City
Adrien won, with Sporting, on the 31 of may, one Taça de Portugal, beating Sporting de Braga in the final. Some months later, on the 9th of august, he conquered the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, after defeating Sporting’s main rival, Benfica.
He started season 2015/16 as the captain of Sporting. Adrien extended his contract with Sporting until 2020, with a clause of 45 million Euros.
Adrien signed on August 31, 2017 with Leicester City Premier League club, his transfer was denied for 14 seconds late by Fifa.
He officially becomes a Leicester player on January 1, 2018 at the opening of the winter mercato. He made his debut with the club the same day by coming against Huddersfield Town in Premier League, in a 3-0 victory of his own.
National Team "Selecção" and Sorting Clube Portugal"
He made his national youth team debut with 16 years old and was captain of the Under 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 national team. He was considered one of the greatest hopes of the Portuguese football. Highly praised for his game, the coach Paulo Bento described him as a “complete midfielder, omnipresent, tireless and with an entrepreneur spirit during offensive and defensive moves.
He was called up to Portugal first team on the 4th of september of 2013 but he did not played. On the 18th of november of 2014 he got his first cap at Old Trafford on a friendly fixture against Argentina.
During 2015 he is regularly called up to the national team. He lived a very special moment during the friendly match between Portugal and France, on the 4th of september.
He is called up by the national coach Fernando Santos for the final list of Portugal to participate in the European Championship, in France, and conquers the competition beating France in the final (1x0 after extra time). This is the most important trophy in the history of Portuguese football.
